Defence Newsletter Feb 2010
Hello Defence Parents and children,
What a busy time we have had for the start of 2010, I have met and spoken to all your beautiful children and once again I am excited to be offering a timetable that gives me an opportunity to spend time with them. Not all your children will choose to come to their activity, that’s fine. I am there to support them if they want or need the support.
Last week I sent home the term timetable with a competition for the children, designing an OLA defence Logo. So far I’ve received one back and it is great. I’d love to get any other entries back by week 7 (around the 10th of March). I will be using the logo on letter head and anything to do with Defence so please encourage your children to have a go.
On Friday the 5th of March we will be having a Teddy Bears picnic at the Friendship club. Your children are encouraged to bring along their bears and join in the picnic. We will be having bear activities and games.
The RSL is having an ANZAC Day 2010 Essay writing competition, from years 4 to 7.  The prizes are great and just imagine the children’s excitement if they won. If you could give the completed essays to the office or me by Wednesday April 7th, then I can attach the Entry form and send them off.
Last year I started a new member to our school community his name is Charlie Bear. He only arrived late last year and has spent a little time in 5 M. This year he has visited 5 P for a few weeks and now he’s enjoying his time in 2B. He travels with a class for a while and will then move on to the next class. Eventually he will have moved throughout the school visiting all the children. He is a comfort for any children and is especially helpful to our Defence Children.
Walking Club has commenced and it is great to see so many happy faces wanting to go for a walk. If you haven’t already, please send a note along saying that you give permission for you child to attend Walking Club. If I have no note of permission, I have to say no they can’t come. That is a sad and hard thing for me to do especially if their friends are walking.
If there is anything significant happening in your children’s life that may affect them here at school and you think we should know, please don’t hesitate to contact me or their class teacher. If we are informed we can provide the best care for your child.

I will keep you posted about our ANZAC Day Ceremony when dates are confirmed. This will be held the week prior to ANZAC Day as it falls on a Sunday.

A week prior  to ANZAC Day we will be selling Legecy armbands, these are $2:00 each and Legacy is such a worth while cause. Click here for more information about Legacy.

Thanks to you all for having such wonderful children and I really enjoy the time I spend with them. They are a delight.

Take care and be safe,

Janet Dyer DSTA
